Musical Selection

Alexander Orlov was born in Moscow, where he began his piano studies at age six at the Moscow Special Gnessin School of Music, continuing at the Academic Music College of Moscow Conservatory in 1995. He studied piano with Alexander Mndoyants at Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, and organ with Oleg Jantchenko and Alexei Semenov. Mr. Orlov is currently a post-graduate at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and a teacher at the Moscow State Classical Academy. He has performed solo and chamber recitals in the concert halls of Moscow and many other cities across Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Lithuania. He took part in international music festivals in Moscow and Belarus and has played concerts with orchestras for radio and TV broadcasts, such as Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 in Lipetsk and Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in Montréal. Mr. Orlov was the recipient of a scholarship from the Russian Culture Foundation in 2003 and won second prize at the Piano Competition of Moscow Conservatory the same year. In 2004, he was a finalist of the International Piano Competition of Montréal. In 2006, Mr. Orlov received first prize at the international competition "Music without Limits" in Lithuania and second prize and silver medal at the international competition Premio Rovere d'Oro in Italy.
