Aleyson Scopel
Age: Country of Birth: Country of Citizenship: Currently Residing In: Aleyson Scopel was born in Vitória, Brazil, and began his musical studies at the age of 14. His solo and chamber music recitals have included performances in the U.S., Brazil, China, the Czech Republic and France. He has appeared as a soloist with the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra and other major orchestras in Brazil, as well as with the New England Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, Springfield Symphony Orchestra and Arlington Philharmonic. In 1999, Mr. Scopel entered the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston where he received his bachelor's of music in piano performance with distinction in performance and academic honors. During his years at the conservatory, he studied with Patricia Zander and was awarded the Blüthner Prize. Mr. Scopel has been the recipient of the highest awards in the most prestigious piano competitions in Brazil, such as the Nelson Frire (2003), Magda Tagliaferro (2004) and the Artlivre (2005). He has also been a winner in numerous international competitions throughout the United States, including the Corpus Christi International Competition (2003), Hellam Young Artists Competition (2003) and Kingsville Competition (2004). In 2006, he received the prize for the best Brazilian candidate at the Villa-Lobos International Competition in São Paulo. Mr. Scopel has participated in master classes with Fou T'song, Márta Gulyás, Claudio Martínez-Mehner, Robert Roux and Logan Skelton. In September 2004, he spent a semester in Berlin, where he studied at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler. He has now returned to Brazil, where he is continuing his studies with professors Celia Ottoni and Miguel Proença.
