Musical Selection

Kana Mimaki began her piano studies in Japan at the age of three. By the time she was five, she had won the first of many piano competitions. Her recent achievements include first prize awards from the Los Angeles Liszt Piano Competition, International Russian Music Competition and the Catania International Rachmaninov Piano Concerto Competition. After graduating from a renowned music high school, Ms. Mimaki continued her studies at Tokyo National University of Music and Fine Arts. As an undergraduate, Herbert Stessin invited her to attend the Aspen Music Festival, where she went on to win the E. Nakamichi Piano Concerto Competition. Following completion of her bachelor's degree, Ms. Mimaki returned to the U.S. to obtain her masters of music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and she is currently working on a DMA at Rice University. She has studied with and played master classes for internationally acclaimed pianists including Gilbert Kalish, Anton Kuerti, Mack McCray, John Perry, Menahem Pressler, Robert Roux and André Watts. Ms. Mimaki has performed all over the world in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Bucharest, Budapest, Mongolia, Sicily, Tokyo, Toronto, Wroclaw and the major cities in North America.
