Esperanza Spalding and Gretchen Parlato
Two of the most dynamic young women of jazz come together for an intimate, soulful evening that will sweep you into their groove. Parlato, winner of the 2004 Thelonious Monk Institute Jazz Vocals Competition, soothes and mellows a room with her fresh, breezy phrasing and lilting Brazilian rhythms, having a hypnotic effect on your senses. Bassist, singer and composer Spalding brings the rhythms of jazz and pop fusion to vibrant life. This young artist, born in 1984, has chops that have led her onstage alongside such notable artists as Regina Carter, Pat Metheny, Joe Lovano and Patti Austin. It’s the stuff of jazz legends in the making.
